Kepware software uses software-based licensing tied to the hardware signature of the server. Licenses are perpetual per-instance and can be activated either online or offline. A single license key covers all configuration limits, and annual Support & Maintenance agreements are optional but recommended for security updates.

We recommend using dedicated OT-level VPNs with multi-factor authentication, or software-defined secure access tunnels. Direct internet exposures of OPC UA ports, PLC programming ports, or remote desktops must be strictly avoided to comply with cybersecurity standards.
