Description
In the last two decades the applications of variable speed drives in industries are increased and getting wider. The trends are propelled by the advance on power electronics and the associated controllers. By using modern variable speed drives, industrial drives can be operated efficiently and automated easily.
The increasing number of variable speed drives in an industry has made the industry to prepare engineers and technicians that having a capability to select, operate, and maintain variable speed drives properly. This task is quite difficult because there are various variable speed drives offered by vendors and unfortunately, no standards exist on these products. To make it the problem getting worse, the very fast change of technology has made the products are changed continuously. To solve these, industry has to prepare engineers and technicians that having strong background on power electronics, electric motors, and microelectronics. With this basic knowledge, various products and technology can be handled easily.
